Life is a series of choices. We spend all day everyday making decisions from the time we wake up to when we go to bed. Some are minor and harmless, while others have the potential to change our lives for good. Being able to do this is super important for everyone and your own self-growth/ success. Why Decisions Making is a Must-know

But before we go into the strategies, let’s just understand why it is so essential. Our future depends on every decision we make in our lives. From the career path we are to follow, the financial decisions we take, to even romantic relationships and friendships; the choices we make have a way of either propelling us towards growth and contentment or inhibition.

However, the meaning of life becomes much clearer when you truly understand what a decision is and how by understanding what they are and that they exist you can be proactive to help accept all that happens in life.

1. Great for: Thinking about things in on bigger picture, reminder of values and principles

Understand your values and priorities: Making the right choices starts with this. Think about what is really important to you in your life. What are your core values? Where do you see yourself in five years? When you are clear about aligning decisions with values, they become automatic and in line with your real beliefs.

If a core value of yours included health and well-being, you would naturally take actions aligned with self-care and healthy habits. This process of reflection will provide you with this clarity where in you will know what to choose and identify those choices which bring out the best in YOU.

2. Find Info and Knowledge. Local Date Time.

When the decisions are to be made, that is where awareness is power. To all my dear nameless friends, before you do anything, think over and get a bigger outlook of the possible consequences from people who have more experience than yourself. Whether that be reading online, picking up some old school books or speaking to experts the more you know the higher your chance of making an educated decision.

But, there’s a fine line between researching and doing nothing. Information overload can cause confusion and sometimes inaction. Take a page out of your intuition book and go with the flow, then just use the tons of information as general directions on what to do rather than drowning in them.

3. Think About the Consequences in the Long Run

Decisions should be made with this in mind as long term effects are what matters the most. What are the effects of this decision on my future? Does this provide me an opportunity to scale what excites and interests me the most? Is it going to take me where I need to go?

If you zoom out and look at the big picture, it becomes easy to not take a knee-jerk decision which benefits you in the short term but dampens your growth in the long run. It is crucial for you to consider long-term over short-term as your entire life is in motion here.

4. Trust Your Intuition

Although processing the facts and considering the ramifications are key, it also comes down to following your gut. At times gut feelings can give us more than logic ever could. Intuition is simply your subconscious mind doing some computations on information you have in a very light sleep state, based on the experiences and knowledge that you feed your conscious self every day.

Practice to listen to your intuition particularly when you are in the dilemma of taking some hard decision. Even when the right choice is illogical, it may direct you to your true path. Listening to your gut is such an important equation in this formula of the ability to make decisions based on making plans for what feels good.

5. Incorporate your Mistakes as the Learning opportunities

Nobody is perfect and we all screw up sometimes. View your failures as learning experiences instead of something to be feared and never take into account. And each decision, whether right or wrong, has taught me the lessons I need to learn in order to grow and make better choices moving forward.

Keep in mind good decision making is not about being perfect, it’s learning and getting better every time. Be nice to yourself and treat your mistakes as a trial of self-improving.

Conclusion

The journey of empowering yourself to make the right choices is one that lasts a lifetime. After reflecting on your values, learning about what interests you, how to consider the long term consequences and act accordingly, listen to yourself intuitively and embrace mistakes as the wisest school teacher. It will be in this way that one can navigate life more prepared for its challenges.

And always remember everything that you do is an opportunity to create the life that you want and to live as your most authentic self. Therefore, accept the choice and do everything in your power to create a better future for yourself.
