Self-Improve is an ENDLESS Journey. It requires slight changes in your habits, way of thinking and how you look at your life that will change the way you feel in all aspects. Today, in this blog post we are going to learn about the eight less obvious things you should be doing to improve your life. The current list is simple, straightforward and could lead to meaningful improvements in your personal development.

1. Daily Gratitude Practice

Gratitude is a strategy to replace focusing on what about your life sucks with what you like. Write down 3 things every day you are grateful for. It can be as simple as a great cup of coffee in the morning or a loving friend. A mindset of gratitude can help you in many areas of your life and enhance your quality of life, but it does require some practice over time.

2. Practice Mindfulness

With everything that’s constantly going on in our chaotic world, it is simply far too easy to get caught up in it all and forget how to be. To remind us that being present is the practice of paying attention, on purpose, without judgment. Another simple but hard exercise is to spend a few minutes per day by making yourself sit, focusing on your breath, exclusively watching your own thoughts and sensations when they show up, without acknowledging with them. This simple technique will reduce stress, improve focus and add to your well-being.

3. Step outside your comfort zone and read a book from an unfamiliar genre.

Literature and reading is not only a great way to learn but also brings views that are food for thought. Go out of your comfort zone reading a book on a topic you wouldn’t usually delve into. No matter if it is a self-help book, a classic novel or something from non-fiction, the stuff that usually does not fall as ‘your thing’ can widen your perspective and give you some new ideas. It also can help you to focus and widen your horizon.

4. Set SMART Goals

You should not only strive for them and aim to achieve more both in your personal life but also in the way you trained yourself to make them. Adhere the SMART framework (Specific, Measurable, Attainable and Achievable, Relevant, Timely). For example, instead of saying “exercise more,” actually set a goal: “for the next month I will go for a 30-minute walk three times per week.” This way your goals become more Mr. Sensible and less of unrealistic.

5. Practice Self-Reflection

Self-Reflection Is A Strong Tool To Self Betterment Each week, take time to reflect on what happened; your behavior and the emotion you experienced. Reflect back on the previous week: what you did well, what could have done better and most importantly, identify key lessons learnt. This practice allows you to be self-aware and recognises patterns, it means that when you come to make a decision about your values or what led you towards the choice.

6. Stay Away from Negative People

Who you surround yourself with will have a massive impact on your ability to be in the right mindset and feel good. Find people who motivate, encourage and elevate you. Get rid of all toxic relationships that suck the energy out of you or negatively impact your life. Surrounding yourself with positive people that can keep your motivation up, give you a support system, and offer an atmosphere that you can grow in.

7. Fail and Fail Fast

Nobody is perfect and you can achieve if only you are willing to face your fears of being seen as inadequate. Do you know what failure can be?  Instead of a setback, look at it as an opportunity to learn and mature. Failure is the stepping stone to success. Try to recognize your failures as an opportunity to reflect, adapt, and improve. Every successful person walked through a door that led to failure.

8. Practice Self-Care

Self-improvement is not only about achieving goals but also it is much more than that. Make time for self care practices that provide mental, physical, and spiritual nourishment. This could look like taking a bubble bath, going out into nature for a walk or exercising, or even doing some meditation. By taking better care of yourself, You will have the energy and motivation to be a part of your own personal growth journey.

Keep in mind that self-improvement is a gradual journey. Begin with these gradual shifts and carry out them daily. Before long, you’ll feel your mindset changing and simultaneously see yourself gradually having better habits and being in a much happier place than before.
